The African thread hairstyle worn by the woman in the painting is a tribute to ancestral hair traditions. This hairstyle demonstrates that African hair, far from being a challenge to overcome, is a source of pride and natural beauty.
Today, this practice is making a comeback, reminding us that kinky hair can be worn with elegance and sophistication.

The painting celebrates the diversity and beauty of natural hair, proving that it can be styled in many ways without resorting to straightening methods or wigs. It highlights the value and beauty of kinky hair, which is a symbol of African culture and heritage.

As a black woman with kinky hair, I myself went through a similar journey, going through relaxers and other methods before rediscovering the value and natural beauty of my hair. Today, I increasingly use this traditional method of hair styling with thread, which I have relearned and adopted with pride. Through my paintings, I want to revalue our hair and show its importance. My art is a testimony to the richness of our heritage and a call to celebrate the authentic beauty of our natural hair.
